Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award

IDRAAC, in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology at the St Georges Hospital University Medical Center, received the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Best Medical Center in the Arab World during the sixth session of the Hamdan Ben Rashed Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences distributed in Dubai in 2011. This award is granted to prominent individuals, establishments, research centers and universities around the world to honor their outstanding achievements in the field of medicine and to encourage the development of institutions dedicated to research in the Arab world. Past recipients of this award include Professor Robert Edward, winner of the 2001 Hamdan International Award, who received the 2010 Nobel Prize in Medicine for the development of in vitro fertilization.

The Department has been honored to be “one of the leading departments in mental health in Lebanon and the Arab World, by encouraging research in this field, its great efforts to increase public awareness, and its participation in the development of educational and training programs in the mental health field.

Also, the Department has been awarded for “acquiring, over the years, experience that enabled it to become one of the leading departments in this field on all the international, regional and local levels. “
