Mental Health Disaster Relief
IDRAAC’s members have a well-established experience in evaluating and treating mental health problems arising from disasters in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria. The multidisciplinary team has made it possible for IDRAAC to cover children and adolescents, adults as well as the elderly.
IDRAAC has led several projects assessing PTSD and acute stress disorder, depression, impulse control, mass psychogenic illness etc. These projects occurred in a variety of settings: airplane crashes, war related trauma, exposure to toxic material etc.
These projects include:
- Medico legal assessment
- Field research
- Clinical evaluation and treatment
Psychiatrists, psychologists , social workers , epidemiologists as well as biostatisticians established IDRAAC as a leading center covering simultaneously the academic, the medico legal and the clinical endeavors in the field of disaster related mental health services.
IDRAAC’s partners include local, regional and international institutions: World Health Organization WHO, Médecins Sans Frontières, UNICEF, UNFPA, U.S. Embassy of Lebanon, OXFAM, European Union, NIMH (USA), Ministries of Health, legal firms, etc.
