On May 12 & 13, we have piloted the first Mental Health in the Workplace training, tailored for different organizations and businesses. This project is in collaboration with the National Mental Health Programme at the Ministry of Public Health and the support of the International Rescue Committee, the World Bank, and the technical support of the World Health Organization.
The training focused on the bi-directional relationship between Mental Health and the Workplace and is a continuity of the national mental health in the workplace initiative initiated by the National Mental Health Programme and the World Health Organization in 2019.
During the training, an overview of different Mental Health challenges was shared by the trainers Dr. Georges Karam, psychiatrist & Dr. Zaher Krayem, psychologist, as well as tools and communication skills to face these challenges and help their co-workers identify different stressors, start and end conversations with co-workers on mental health and invite them to seek help.
This kind of training will better understand innovative and evidence-based measures of improving employee wellness at the workplace and help create Mental Health Champions who will advocate for mental health in their organizations.
