Dr. Elie Karam, President of IDRAAC, chaired the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) - Epidemiology and Public Health Section conference titled “Emerging Mental Health Challenges across the Globe” at Columbia University in New York from 2-4 May 2018.

This meeting gathered the best mental epidemiologists in the world and Dr. Elie Karam and Dr. John Fayyad from IDRAAC presented “What Impacts Mental Health Outcomes Following War Trauma? Research from Lebanon Wars and the Syrian Refugee Crisis” during the symposium “Trauma and Mental Health in a Global Setting: Research on Refugees and Displaced Persons Around the Globe”, which focused on their extensive research on war and mental health at University of Balamand, St Georges Hospital University Medical Center and IDRAAC.
