Discusses mental health problems in Algeria, with reference to the sociocultural and ecological environments, medical demography, and sociopolitical changes. The availability of psychopharmaceuticals, traditional therapies, psychological development, resistance to modern psychiatric assistance, and problems of migrants are considered.
