Trichotillomania: A clinical review and a case report

Describes the case of a young adult male who experienced the consecutive onset of nocturnal enuresis, knuckle biting, and trichotillomania (a self-destructive pattern of behavior), primarily of the scalp. Training involving competence response therapy (i.e., fist clenching for 3 min when developing the urge to pull hair), coupled with monetary rewards and brief psychotherapy led to a fairly good outcome.
