Examined the severity of depression and its prevalence among medical students and other students by administering the General Health Questionnaire to 50 male medical students and to 50 male arts students (aged 17-27 yrs) from different academic levels. Results show that arts students reported significantly more depression and physical symptoms related mostly to the daily studying time and academic level than medical students. Grade had nothing to do with the mood of the university students. It is concluded that depression may be lower in medical students than other graduate students
