Presents the case of a 31-yr-old woman who suffered from panic anxiety neurosis for 10 yrs. A combination of both clomipramine and behavioral therapies led to optimal therapeutic outcomes. Such treatment is especially appropriate in cases in which the morbidity is chronic (thus impairing both the patient's coping mechanisms and self-efficacy) and concomitant secondary depression is at a level that hinders the process of learned behavioral modification through reductions in motivation and imagery function. After 15 days of drug treatment and cognitive restructuring, the S began to experience considerable reduction in the frequency, intensity, and duration of attacks.
