Discriminant function analysis is used to discriminate between three clinical subgroups of depression: neurotic depression, endogenous psychotic and endogenous non-psychotic depression. Ss were 42 patients (aged 20-40 yrs) presenting with depressive symptoms. Two discriminant functions have been calculated on which the percentage of grouped cases correctly classified was 95%. The possible utility of quantitative EEG measures in differential diagnosis is discussed.
