Studied the prevalence of tardive dyskinesia in inpatients and outpatients treated with neuroleptics and the prevalence of tardive dyskinesia-like movements among schizophrenics who never received treatment. Human subjects: 200 male and female Tunisian adults (aged under 30 to over 50 yrs) (psychiatric disorders). 2,075 male and female Moroccan children, adolescents, and adults (psychiatric disorders). 100 Moroccan adolescents and adults (aged 16-32 yrs) (schizophrenia) (50 never treated and 50 treated with neuroleptics). 50 Moroccan adolescents and adults (nonpsychiatric patients not receiving neuroleptics). Drugs used: Haloperidol, fluphenazine depot, and methotrimeprazine. Tests used: The Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (National Institute of Mental Health, 1976).
