Found that cultural and racial factors influenced the therapeutic responses of schizophrenics in Libya and MaltThe variables examined were (1) daily drug use of schizophrenic inpatients; (2) assessment of single or combinations of drugs, mode of administration, and dosage; and (3) assessment of adjunctive drugs, including antiparkinsonian (AP), antidepressant, and minor tranquilizers. High frequency of polypharmacy, liberal use of minor tranquilizers and AP agents, and daily multiple administration of drugs was seen. Long-acting preparations were not administered to Ss in Libya despite their established advantages, and depot neuroleptics were given to Ss in Malta, especially those unwilling to cooperate.
