Analyzes the role of institutions in the socialization of Arab youth. Specifically, the role of family, school, and peer group is discussed. The youth needs for independence, affiliation and social relationships, education, and career are examined within the context of the Arab culture. The role of individual and group counseling is discussed, and the need for social action to make the environment more responsive to the needs of youth is emphasized.
