This study investigated the prevalence of benzodiazepine use and parental emotional distress expressed as anxiety or depression among parents of children with cancer in Lebanon, a country where drug purchasing from drugstores is possible without a medical prescription. We also explored the association between benzodiazepine use and emotional distress. Findings may shed light on the magnitude of this problem and whether such parents need psychosocial support.
