This study was carried out to examine the prevalence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity in the state of Kuwait. The participants were parents and teachers, who rated their kindergarteners' behavior at home and at school. An Arabic rating scale was used to examine the prevalence of ADHD symptoms among 5-6 year olds in kindergarten population. An overall prevalence of 5.9% was found on the basis of parents' and teachers' reports. Males were more often reported to have higher rates of ADHD symptoms than females. The findings are preliminary and thus laying the ground work for raising public awareness about the existence of ADHD symptoms in Kuwait. It is important to address problem behaviors at an early age, and to provide reference data for early interventions.
