Discusses the principles and goals of a proposed model of mental health promotion and suicide prevention service delivery in postwar Iraq. The overarching and fundamental principle to be employed is one of 'reciprocity': a basic exchange of knowledge in which mental health care providers learn from Iraqi communities at the same time as members of those communities learn from mental health care providers.
