204 Kuwaiti and 137 American undergraduates (all Ss aged 18-23 yrs) responded to the Arabic Obsessive-Compulsive Scale in Arabic and English languages, respectively. Based on the scree test, a principal components (principal axis) factor analysis with an Oblimin rotation yielded 3 factors in both samples. The factors were labeled (1) obsessive thoughts, (2) orderliness, and (3) checking for the Kuwaiti sample, and (1) obsessive thoughts, (2) orderliness and checking, and (3) lack of obsession for the American sample. By and large, there was good similarity between the first 2 factors only.
