Examined (1) differences in self-learning disposition and (2) the concept of test anxiety as an emotional variable that points to frustration associated with testing, and that has a negative effect on performance, as well as level of ambition as an indicator for high and low performance level. The sample consisted of 298 male 1st-yr high school students in Abha and khamis-Mushait, Saudi ArabiStatistical analysis of the results shows a significant effect of disposition of self-learning on high achievers, a significant effect of anxiety on low achievers, and a significant effect of ambition on high achievers.
