The present study examined job stress and job satisfaction and their relation to
measures of neuroticism, Type A behavior, and I-E locus of control as well as sex
differences among Kuwaiti men (n= 189) and women (n = 210) employees. Women had
significantly higher means on scales of job stress, neuroticism, and external
locus of control, while men scored significantly higher on job satisfaction.
Analysis yielded significant and positive correlations of job stress with
neuroticism and locus of control of both men and women. Job satisfacrion scores
correlated significantly but negatively with external locus of control for both
sexes, while job satisfaction had a positive correlation with Type A behavior for
women only. The significant correlation between job stress and job satisfaction
was negative.
