It has been suggested that mathematics anxiety may influence students' educational and career goals. To investigate the mathematics anxiety of 159 students in Grade 8 (aged 12-18 yrs) in the United Arab Emirates, a 28-item anxiety scale was administered. Analysis indicated some mathematics anxiety. Also, boys and girls scored significantly differently as boys had the higher mean. Further study is needed to explore and explain this difference between boys and girls, and to examine variables such as socioeconomic status and parents' education and occupation with respect to students' mathematics anxiety.
