This chapter discusses US immigrant children and families from the Middle East. Some historical background on the geographic definition of the Middle East and its early and recent history are given. The author continues with a discussion on Middle Eastern identity in the US, including family values, the impact of prejudice, and difficulties in assimilation. The adjustment of Middle Eastern children to life in the US, and problems within families with regard to this adjustment, is also discussed.
