Examined the reliability and validity of the Palestinian version of the Student Alienation Scale (SAS). To develop this version, 2 Arab bilinguals achieved consensus in their translation of the scale's 24 items. 574 students (aged 14-21 yrs) completed the SAS, the Beck Depression Inventory, Satisfaction with Life Scale, the SCL-90, and the Spheres of Control. Internal consistency was found to be high; split-half reliability was moderately high, and test-retest reliability was good. Estimates of concurrent validity indicated a significant correlation between the SAS and the other scales.
