Discusses the differences between Arabic and Western cultures that may influence the effectiveness of language interventions. A brief description of specific aspects of Arabic culture that may affect the effectiveness of intervention is followed by descriptions of Arabic child-rearing practices, attitudes toward disabilities, language, nonverbal communication, communication style, and difficulties experienced in learning English. Guidelines are suggested for clinicians working with Arabic speaking clients and families or with people who practice the religion of Islam..
