107 male incarcerated drug users, 107 males serving prison terms for offenses other than drug use, and 107 male control Ss (all aged 20-30 yrs) were administered the Arabic version of the Self-Esteem Scale (C. M. Rosenburg, 1965) and the State-Trait-Anxiety Inventory (C. D. Spielberger et al, 1970). Tests were used to measure the Ss' self-esteem and state-trait anxiety, respectively. Results reveal that there is a relationship between levels of self-esteem and anxiety in Kuwaiti drug user behavior. Drug users report having lower self esteem and higher levels of anxiety than nonusers.
