Examined the factorial structure of the Arabic Children's Depression Inventory with 1,981 Kuwaiti middle-school students (aged 10-16 yrs). Five orthogonal factors were extracted, labeled generic depression, pessimism, feeling happy, weak concentration, and lack of loneliness. These interpretable factors may pertain to the phenomenon of childhood depression, suggesting the usefulness of the inventory with Kuwaiti children and adolescents.
