The Birleson Depression Self Rating Scale (DSRS) for children was evaluated in a group of non-referred adolescents in a school setting. The 18item self report inventory demonstrated good psychometric properties. Although originally designed for use in children, the instrument proved to be a useful tool for screening of depressive symptoms in adolescents in a non-clinical setting.
