A comparison between the use of behavioral and pharmaceutical treatments for men's sexual inadequacy in an Egyptian sample

Tested the impact of a behavioral treatment as compared to the use of pharmaceutics with sexually inadequate men. Three groups of 120 each were formed and were diagnosed to have secondary impotence. Two methods of treatment were applied. The 1st group undertook a classical medical treatment with prostatic massage. The 2nd group was treated by a modified Masters and Johnson (1970) behavioral technique for 6 sessions. The 3rd group received no treatment. Data revealed significant advantages in favor of the 2nd group. That technique had a positive effect on the relationship between spouses. Also, the wife's participation in the treatment was important. It is important to combine behavioral and pharmaceutical treatments with those who rely on the latter
