Interviewed 61 teenagers (aged 13-19 yrs) from the Gaza Strip, regarding their personal experiences, prevailing emotions, behaviors and coping mechanisms during the popular uprising against the military occupation (intifada). Ss experienced increases in fear, anxiety, anger, and hatred, but only 1 S had symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Two-thirds of the Ss stated that religious rituals were behaviors associated with fear, and 40% of Ss stated that their performing these rituals indicated that they were angry. Monitoring Ss for development of PTSD in the future is recommended.
