On 9 different occasions during the Gulf War, 35 Israeli psychiatric inpatients (aged 21-47 yrs) had to enter a sealed room and put on gas masks, after air raid sirens were sounded. Results indicate that psychological traumatic stress prevention techniques were not necessary. Ss cooperated well, and no exacerbations of psychosis were noted. However, some hospital staff felt stress management techniques were indicated.
