Medical problems in a sample of children with intellectual impairments in Jordan.
Examined medical needs of 191 male and 71 female Ss (121 <12 yrs old, 141 >12 yrs old) attending a special school for intellectually impaired children. The most common medical problems were neurological illnesses and dental disease. With the exception of vision and eye problems and urinary diseases, medical problems were more common in girls than in boys. All problems were more common among younger Ss. Except for vision and eye problems, all problems were more prevalent among Ss with more severe intellectual impairments.
