Separation from parents during early childhood: Locus of control and depression.

Examined the effect of separation from the parents during early 33 Ss separated from = childhood. Two groups participated in this study (G1 33 Ss living with their biological parents). Ss were 8-12 = their families; G2 yrs old. The cognitive, emotional, social and psychological consequences of separation and nonseparation from parents were tested. G1 Ss focused on external, uncontrollable causes and were unstable and depressive. G2 Ss focused on internal, controllable causes and were stable and less depressive.
