Investigated the effect of test anxiety on academic
achievement in 200 male and 200 female 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-yr
college students. An Arab version of the Test Anxiety Inventory was
used. Female Ss scored higher than male Ss in all grades. Anxiety
scores followed a curvilinear relationship for male and linear
relationship for female Ss. Test anxiety was negatively correlated
with academic achievement for both genders. Treatment of test
anxiety, especially with regard to improvement of academic
achievement and intellectual performance, is discussed.
