Examined gender and cultural differences in the neurotic tendencies (NTs), state (SA), trait (TRA), and test anxieties (TSA) of 120 Egyptian and 120 Saudi college students. Ss completed the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, an anxiety scale, and a neurotic tendency schedule. Egyptian females scored higher on SA, TRA, TSA, and NTs than Egyptian males. Saudi females scored higher than Saudi males on all measures except TSEgyptian females scored higher on TSA than Saudi females, while the opposite was true for the differences between Egyptian and Saudi males. Results were interpreted in the light of the economic, social, and educational characteristics of the 2 societies.
