Examined gender differences in the relationship between achievement motivation (AC), trait anxiety (TA), and extraversion (EX) in 125 male and 125 female Egyptian secondary school students (aged 14-16 yrs). Ss completed the Ray-Lynn Achievement Motivation Scale, the Trait Anxiety Scale of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and the extraversion scale of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ). Females had higher TA than males, but did not differ from them on AC or EX. There was a positive relationship between AC and TA in both sexes. In males, AC was positively correlated with EX while TA was negatively correlated wwith EX. Factor analysis revealed 2 different structures involving the 3 variables for males and females.
