Cognitive function and depression

Abstract

This article summarizes the cognitive changes (referred to as “neurocognitive”) as well as the cognitive processes thought to underlie depression and which constitute the essentials of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Our present understanding of cognition has been quite helpful in reaching a more comprehensive approach to this disorder thought in the past to be “purely” emotional.
